I have been working as a Mathematics teacher in govt high school located in a remote village of Nada. I was appointed to this job through direct appointment process. I had secured second rank in B.Ed course for  Manglore University. Being an active teacher, I always tried my best to implement new methods of learning and to inculcate the enthusiasm to learn new topics in my students. Through using modern technologies to teach students I have been appreciated by all for my efforts to make students understand the difficult topics and to make them the subject easier and interesting.
Visiting the hose of students to inform regarding their academic  performances since 1997. 

Conducting special classes for students those who are weak in their studies. 

Conducting periodic counselling to  students. 

Conducting extra classes during holidays to make the study effective and to create an atmosphere where the students would love to study during their leisure time.

  Likewise through these activities I have been reckowned as a beloved and well known teacher by my students as well as the people around me. Because of all these works govt high school Nada owas known as one of the best high schools of the taluk. The schol has secured 100% result in the year 2002 and a very good and notable result in the following years. I also served as the headmaster of the school from 2004-2007. 
  By recognizing my work , Department of public instructions has honoured me with the prestigious ‘JANAMECCHIDHA SHIKSHAKA’ (the favourit teacher) award of the year 2002-03. I have also received the most prestigious ‘THE D.K. DISTRICT BEST TEACHER AWARD’ of the year 2016-17. I have received prestigous A Shama Rao Best teacher (of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi) Award, which is given to the teacher for his outstanding performance. In 2017 Yenapoya University awarded me with Yenapoya Best Teacher Award for the year 2017. In 2018 TRF ( Talent Research Foundation) awarded me with Haji B.A.Moiddien, Best D.K. District teacher award.

    THE MATHEMATICS  LABORATORY:
    In order to bring newness and interest in studies I had prepared study models and materials for Mathematics and has also been successful in inspiring my students to do the same. With the help of my old students and some people those who desired to help I have been successful in making my dream come true by developing a Mathematics laboratory named’ MATHS WORLD’ in my school. It is proud to say that the laboratory has become a role model for the entire Karnataka state. I also planned to extend the laboratory to make it more attractive and useful which would make it a national laboratory and the process of extending would be in work in the coming days.The laboratory has not only helped the students of Nada but also the students all aver the state. Teachers and students all over the state has visited the lab and appreciated the work.

      RAA  STATE STEERING COMMITTEE:
    The Karnataka govt has appointed me as the member of Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan in the state steering committee of the year 2016.This process has made a way to appreciate the inventions in the field of science and Mathematics. I have participated in the meetings of the state committee and placed the need of developing a Mathematics lab in every govt school of the remote villages and also developed cities.
    AS  A  RESOURCE PERSON;
   Since from the start of my career, have been participating in various workshops as a resource person. I have been giving training for SSLC students regarding exam preparation in Belthangady, Bantwtal, Moodbidri, Karkala and Manglore taluks for last many years.
      AS A DISTRICT AND STATE RESOURCE PERSON;
    I have been working as a resource person for teachers training in D.K district for many years. 
    I have participated in many workshops conducted for Teachers and Students all over Karnataka.Some of them are,
    SSLC Students workshop conducted by DDPI Office Kalburgi at Afzalpur. There I addressed nearly 3000 SSLC Students and 100 maths teachers.

       SSLC STUDY NOTES :
I   I have prepared all sorts of study materials and notes which would help SSLC students to improve their academic performances and to improve their results. The notes which has been printed in a very attractive manner by me are also made available for students. All my notes are also available in social networking sites so that students those who aim at improving their performance can go through them. These are also made available for students and teachers all over Karnataka for free of cost. The notes are typed in both kannada and English languages. Students from all the parts of our state are being benifited through this process. These notes can be downloaded from websites named

      In order to help the students those who are weak at their studies I have been preparing study materials named  ‘TARGET 40’.

     NEW NOTES FOR 9TH STD NEW SYLLABUS
     Karnataka govt has included NCERT portions in 9th syllabus for maths. In order to make study easier I have prepared an own textbook which includes all the   portions in it, which has not only helped the students of my school but also students all over the state. Teachers and students from different corners of the state are taking benefit of this notes as they are available in websites too.   

      VIDEOS;
     I have prepared around 140 videos related to maths. Those are prepared to educate students who are very weak in understanding the concepts and learning them. I have been insisting the students to copy those videos to pendrive, memory card and to watch them. Students can also get accessed to my videos in youtube as they are made available to them for free. Not only my students but students all over the state are getting benifited through them. Those videos include;
  •      SSLC exam preparation.
  •      Maths for students weak at their studies.
  •      Study maths with fun.
    Videos including such titles are available for students in youtube. These videos can be watched by typing yakub koyyur in youtube.
    National news paper the hindu reported about his achievement    through creating videos in youtube.
    STATE MATHS AND SCIENCE TEACHERS FORUM MS-STF
    This platform has been formed with the participation of education department. This google group includes more than 10,000 teachers and helps them to make their work more easier. Being an active member of this he has shared works including more than 4000 pages.

In Karnataka, a ‘maths lab’ helps students top 

the numbers game

A tutor makes learning fun and helps children across the State numerate

For many, maths is a hard nut to crack. But for the students of    the Kannada- medium government high school at Nada         village  (70 km from Mangaluru), it’s a breeze, thanks to the ‘maths lab’ established by their teacher Yakub Koyyur.
Koyyur is a well-known teacher in Karnataka. But the lack of funding made it dicult for him to start his maths lab project till end-2014. That year, the school’s old students’ net- work responded to his pitch for his project via Facebook and WhatsApp.
Many students in the net- work came forward to sponsor dierent items for the lab, which helped Koyyur launch it by Febru- ary 2015.
When this reporter wanted to visit the maths lab, Koyyur said his students would explain everything and there was no need for him to be there. There is even a sign- post in Nada to show you the way to the maths lab. For Anusha, Sonakshi and Nelson (the students who had taken on the responsibility of explaining the lab) maths is “real fun”. Anusha explained maths
tables and square roots using paper cups. Sonakshi used a simple circular disc with a thread attached to it to derive the value of ‘Pi’. Nelson used a calendar to explain the concepts of addition and multiplication. If these are relatively simple concepts, Koyyur has devised others that are much sophisticated at the laboratory.
He said the lab has around 80 models related to various mathematical concepts. Asked how he visualised and developed the models, he said that as a teacher he would observe students and experts from the field and drew inspiration from other personalities in the region.
The results of the maths lab are visible at the Kannada medium school: the total pass percentage in the 10th standard exam rose from 65 per cent a year in 2014 to 83 per cent in 2016 and 87.5 per cent in 2017. In fact, the pass percentage was 100 per cent in maths in 2017, he said.
“The maths lab is inculcating a love of maths in students. There is a vast behaviour change in learning maths now,” he added.
Strengthening the basics
A strong proponent of maths labs for those studying in classes 1-5, Koyyur said it is essential to strengthen the basics of maths through maths labs at the lower primary level. If that is done, it will help build a strong foundation for the future.
Inspired by the Nada model, around 10 high schools in the State have taken suggestions from Koyyur and have established the maths labs.
Koyyur is also known for his YouTube videos and blog for students; he has posted more than 150 maths videos.
He recalled that a physic- ally challenged boy from Bengaluru had called him after the 10th standard results in 2017 to say that the YouTube lessons had helped him score 40 marks in the exam.
“If I am a direct teacher for my students in Nada, I am an indirect teacher to thousands of students across the State,” he said
To publishers who push him to publish his works, Koyyur has a simple reply: his maths works are avail- able for free for students on his blog.
“It is not that I don’t need money. But education should not be a marketable product,” he said.
